Gran Canaria, Diciembre 2015 — Ropa vieja is a traditional Canary dish made mainly with stewed beef or chicken, chopped or shredded, chickpeas, onion, peppers, tomato, potatoes and garlic. A variation of a proper stew. It’s one of those dishes that has many versions. We’ll not find two identical such stews. It can be served as a tapa or as a main dish.
There is only one prerequisite when you order it: to be hungry. We visited several restaurants on the island in search of a great plate of ropa vieja and we found it at:
The reason? It has recently become fashionable. It’s a small place, but it’s a must in Las Palmas. They make a crayfish ropa vieja that is ……. Pleasant atmosphere, very welcoming. Fresh ingredients.
